Aldo Giannotti solo show in Viena: "Italian Square" at das weisse haus

"Three influential people from the Viennese art scene were paid by me to speak highly of this exhibition for its entire duration" is the first message communicated by the artist Aldo Giannotti at the entrance of the exhibition. An artist's confession? A public outing? or a critique of the institution in the realm of conceptual art's legacy. Maybe. But maybe Aldo Giannotti wants to present us just a matter of fact: he paid someone to speak highly about his show. Information deprived of any judgement revealing a (legal?) business relationship. The frameworks of economy regulating many spheres of everyday life-among them the art world-are used as a device to blur the borders between right and wrong conventions. it is through such a simple and clear formulation of the sentence that the artist is able to introduce the suspicion in our perception of the show: he changes our relationship with the others and our reliance in people's opinion. From Frieze Art Fair London: the developement of the Appetite project

Each year, Frieze invites two young galleries to present a special project for their booth. This year, Appetite gallery from Buenos Aires is the first Argentine gallery in the history of Frieze.
The project was a work in progress in which Marcelo Galindo, Victoria Musotto and Diego de Aduriz, artists, and Daniela Luna, director of the gallery, where continually performing and changing the stand.
As many visitors remarked, the only booth where people were having fun...

The Outsiders in New York

Lazarides Gallery: The London based gallery currently showing "The Outsiders" in New York.

Using the "guerrila-gallery" method, Lazarides invaded a previous industrial hangar with The Outsiders exhibition featuring artists and artist's collectives: Faile, Paul Insect, JR, Antony Micallef, Jonathan Yeo, Vhils, Invader, Conor Harrington,Zevs, David Choe, Mark Jenkins, Todd James, Miranda Donovan, Blu, Polly Morgan, Borf, Bast, Ian Francis and Mode 2.

Probably the only "memorable event" of the season, in the good sense.

Damiano Colacito in Tampa: Audience & Avatar at the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum


Damiano Colacito has been invited to participate with seven major works in the exhibition Audience and Avatar curated by Don Fuller at the University of South Florida  Contemporary Art Museum.*
The video shows the artist working on the shipment of his real size Wolfstein's Halftrack.

* "Audience & Avatar brings together an international group of artists who explore diverse ways in which videogames, game culture, technology and psychology influence participation and representation of the viewer in art. The exhibition includes a wide range of media- digital painting, digital photography, video, custom self-running games, and scupture- exploring the tension between virtual space and real space, between game space and art space. Artists include: John Paul Bicherd, Damiano Colacito, Jon Haddock, Eva and franco Mattes (a.k.a.0100101110101101.org), Eddo Stern and Phillip Toledano. "
